Rug IconAbout Our Shag Rugs

Our Shag Rug Cover is made of modacrylic, acrylic, and polyester with a polyurethane water-resistant barrier. Soft, plush, and lightweight, this textile blend is also mildew-, stain-, water- and flame-resistant.

The Rug Cover is 1/8th of an inch. The pile height is 2 to 2.5 inches. It is designed to fit conveniently in your washing machine once removed from the underlying Rug Pad.

No. Our shag rug is 100% faux fur.

Yes, but minimally. While it is the nature of high-pile rugs to shed, our Shag Rug Cover has been specifically designed to shed as little as possible. You can expect a few loose fibers from daily use, and a small palm full of fibers in your lint collector after drying.

Yes. Our Shag Rug Cover is naturally stain-resistant; we do not add finishes or treatments to the material. However, we recommend washing the Rug Cover immediately after a spill or pet accident occurs. If not attended to immediately, oil-based stains may become permanent.

1. Remove the soiled Shag Rug Cover from the Rug Pad and put it in the washer, pile side out. If Rug Pad requires cleaning, we recommend a washcloth with warm, soapy water.

2. Machine wash the Rug Cover in cold water on a delicate cycle using a mild, non-bleach detergent.

3. Add fabric softener during the rinse cycle.*
*Please note that we only recommend this for our Shag Rug Cover and not our other Rug Covers.

4. Hang dry or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting.

Tip: If desired, you may spray tangled portions with a ½ fabric softener / ½ water mixture and gently brush with a pet slicker brush.

Hang dry is strongly recommended. You may tumble dry using the Delicate or Air Fluff setting of your dryer, if available. It is important not to apply anything more than very low heat during the washing and drying process to prevent damage to the fibers of your Shag Rug Cover.

Yes. We recommend using fabric softener during the rinse cycle to reduce static and keep the fibers from clumping. Please note that we do not recommend using fabric softener for our standard, non-Shag Rug Cover.

Yes, but only using suction or a soft brush attachment.

As with any fabric, the texture of the fibers may change over time when exposed to elements like detergents, water, or heat. We’ve specifically designed this rug to withstand these conditions as best as possible, but these fibers do naturally like to clump together.
